In the introductory article leading into this series, I told you about whom I am and what I do for a living as a professional freelance writer. Now I would like to share with you come places you can apply to write and make some money, writing, if that is what you are interested in doing.
When I first started out writing, I started doing some blogs for various companies. These companies didn’t pay a lot, but I could use my own name and put the blog on my own blog site, which mean people started to know me for the style of writing I was capable of, even though many of the blogs I wrote were for commercial purposes.
I found out, during this period, that if you wrote regularly between your posts being paid for and your page views, often called organic page views, you could make a fair bit of money from each blog.
Doing a blog this way requires a fair bit of marketing, so a bit of time each day needs to be spent posting information in various spots so that your blog can be read by the masses. One of the best places to do this is on your profile on your community writing site, as this gives those who are familiar with you the opportunity to view your professional work as well.
Creative writing and professional writing are two very different things, and unlike most people believe, it is not very often that creative writing comes into the professional writing field. Generally, you are assigned a topic that needs researched, and then you are expected to take what you learned and formulate it into an article, blog, etc.
Before approaching companies to write blogs, you best have an idea about what you like to, and enjoy writing about. Then you need to set up your blog, so that if the company hires you, you already a blog site to provide them, which you can begin posting your blogs to immediately upon hire.
Two places that are very good and offer free blogs are:
http://www.blogger.com
http://www.wordpress.com
If you don’t wish to upset your free blog provider, you would be wise to remember that if you write in Microsoft Word, which embeds html codes, you need to copy your article into notepad, before posting it to your blog, as you will mess up their pages.
Remember, when setting up your website to provide links back to other places you write, as well as your website or personal blog is you have one.
Okay, so now that you have your blog set up and ready to roll (It is really simple as both of these companies provide easy to use templates), it is time to look for some work.
And speaking of work, I am going to share with you a few of the companies I started out working for as they were a good learning experience and did pay faithfully when you met their requirements.
http://www.blogvertise.com
http://www.payperpost.com
http://www.reviewme.com
Once concluding note: Everyone can write a blog, but remember to write in an area that interests you, as you will enjoy it much more.
